Step through your private garden, and within seconds your feet are sinking into soft white sand with crystal-clear turquoise water stretching out in front of you.
The lagoon was perfect for swimming, and during our stay we even spotted a small reef shark cruising close to shore, that was one of those unforgettable Maldives moments. Although our schedule was packed with activities and we didn't have time to snorkel from the beach, the calm lagoon looked incredibly inviting and easy to access.

The Sunset Water Villa offers breathtaking ocean views and an atmosphere that immediately feels calm and peaceful. From the gentle sound of the waves beneath the villa to the endless views of the Indian Ocean, it's easy to understand why overwater villas have become a symbol of the Maldives.
But, we realized that our expectations in general of overwater villas had become incredibly high. After seeing overwater villas in photos, videos, and travel magazines for years, we had built up this idea that they would be the ultimate luxury experience in the Maldives. Perhaps because of those sky-high expectations, the reality didn't surprise us quite as much as we had imagined. That's not because the Sunset Water Villa wasn't beautiful, it absolutely was, but because the Deluxe Beach Villa exceeded every expectation we had, while the overwater villa simply met them.

Our favorite feature of the Sunset Water Villa was, without a doubt, the bathroom.
The freestanding bathtub overlooking the Indian Ocean was simply stunning. During one rainy afternoon, we spent time soaking in the tub while watching tropical rain fall over the lagoon, and it became one of our favorite memories of our stay at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

Privacy
Privacy was one area where we personally felt the Deluxe Beach Villa had the advantage.
The Sunset Water Villa is still peaceful, luxurious, and offers plenty of privacy, but because of the way the villas are positioned, you can occasionally see neighboring pools from your own outdoor terrace. Likewise, guests walking along the boardwalk to reach their villas are sometimes visible from certain areas of the villa.
