The History of Los Naranjos Town Houses 🍊
This is a family-owned place, and about 30 years ago the original idea was simple: to build a holiday home where the family could escape, slow down, and enjoy the cooler mountain climate. At the time, Los Naranjos felt like the perfect, safe place to do that. The father of the family has always had a deep passion for building and creating, and what started as one personal project slowly grew into something much bigger. One house became another, and eventually Los Naranjos evolved into what it is today: six unique homes, each with its own story and inspiration behind the design.
The first time I (Ida) visited Los Naranjos, my immediate feeling was that I had stepped into a forest wonderland. Flowers everywhere, clouds drifting between the mountains, fresh air, and a calm that instantly makes you forget the coastal heat of El Salvador. It felt peaceful, grounding, and genuinely special.
Next, we’ll take you through each house, one by one, to help you find the one that feels most like your kind of escape. You can also compare the prices and room options for your future trip. And if you read all the way to the end, you’ll discover the newest addition to Los Naranjos a space that calls for couple escapes 😍.

Casa Mosaico — Artful & Spacious Mountain Home
This was the very first house ever built on the property, and you can truly feel it. For us, it represents the beginning of Los Naranjos, a tangible reflection of hard work, patience, and love for craftsmanship. What makes this home especially meaningful is the amount of handcraft you’ll find throughout. Many of the tiles you see were hand-painted by the mother and father of the family themselves, which gives the space a soul you simply can’t replicate.

-
Fully equipped kitchen and BBQ area for shared meals
Why we love it: The house feels cozy and grounded, the kind of place where life slows down naturally. It comfortably accommodates up to four people, making it an ideal choice for a small family or a relaxed stay with close friends. It’s also one of our favorite options for pet owners, thanks to its spacious yard where dogs can roam freely and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

🪔 Casa Santa Fe — Big & Bold Family Retreat
Casa Santa Fe is one of the largest of all the houses and is inspired by Mexican architecture, which immediately gives it a warm, bold, and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where everyone naturally gathers together, making it ideal for bigger groups and longer stays.

Why we love it:
This house has a lively, social energy that feels made for shared moments. In our opinion, it has the best BBQ setup on the property, that invites you to cook together, talk, laugh, and spend long evenings with friends or family. It’s easy to imagine group dinners turning into late-night conversations here.
Another reason we love Casa Santa Fe is the view. From the terraces, you have a clear sight of the extinct volcano, which makes sunset watching especially beautiful. Add the hammocks into the mix, and it quickly becomes a place where you lose track of time napping in the afternoon, gathering again in the evening, and fully enjoying the slow mountain rhythm.
This is a perfect for families, groups of friends, or anyone traveling together who values comfort, shared space, and creating memories around food, sunsets, and long conversations.

Inspired by Swedish countryside homes, this is the most spacious and in our opinion one of the most charming houses on the property. It has a light, cozy feeling that instantly makes you want to settle in.
Highlights:
– Sleeps up to 6 people with multiple beds
– Full kitchen and BBQ area

Why we love it: This is probably the most Instagrammable place at Los Naranjos, but what really makes it special goes far beyond aesthetics. The attic-style sleeping area gives it a playful, nostalgic vibe like having a childhood sleepover in the mountains, whispering stories under blankets with just a small lamp lighting the room. It blends European coziness with Salvadoran nature in a way that feels both familiar and unique.
Right next to this house is one of our favorite viewpoints on the property. During sunset, the clouds slowly roll over the mountains, turning soft pink and golden as the sun goes down. It’s one of those moments that makes you stop, sit quietly, and just take it all in. This is perfect for families, close-knit groups of friends, or anyone who wants space and a touch of playful nostalgia without losing comfort.

Final Thoughts
Beyond the houses themselves, one of the biggest reasons we keep coming back to Los Naranjos is its location. It’s an incredibly convenient base for exploring some of the most beautiful parts of western El Salvador without feeling rushed or constantly on the move. From here, you’re just a short drive from the iconic Santa Ana Volcano, one of the country’s most rewarding hikes, as well as the famous Seven Waterfalls Tour, where you can experience lush nature and multiple waterfalls in one single adventure. Juayua is known for their coffee plantations, so we highly recommend to visit one!
The charming town of Juayúa is also right nearby and quickly becomes part of your routine here. On weekends, the town comes alive with its well-known food festivals, where locals and travelers gather to eat, wander, and soak in the atmosphere. Having all of this so close means you can spend your days hiking, sightseeing, and tasting local food and still return to the calm, cool mountain air of Los Naranjos in the evening.
For us, that balance is what makes Los Naranjos special. It’s peaceful enough to truly rest, yet perfectly located for travelers who want to experience nature, culture, and local life without changing accommodation every night. Whether you’re here for adventure, slow travel, or a bit of both, Los Naranjos feels like the kind of place you can always come back to at the end of the day, tired, happy, and ready to unwind.
